That this was followed by Fae inching towards her on the bed and putting her hand against her face did not do anything to reduce how flustered she was.

"I was thinking about kissing you," Elly blurted out before her brain could catch up. She winced. "But obviously that's not a good idea. Not right now, I mean. It'd be fine if I wasn't sick—more than fine, I mean. It'd be lovely. For me at least. But I am sick. You might catch something."

Mercifully, Elly ran out of air and so had a chance to interrupt her babbling with a deep breath in and a forceful breath out through her nose. "And then I started thinking about what a fool I am, that I tried so hard to keep you from taking care of me. That I had to be this sick before I would let you."
Normally, Fae may have taken the opportunity to say something in between the breaths as Elly ramped up from a simple response that may have ended with Fae blushing sheepishly, biting her lower lip, maybe even leaning in to steal that kiss before Elly could land it. But instead, the half-elf just stared a bit dumbstruck at how quickly Elly went from saying something so bold to chastising herself for saying it at all. All while also explaining just how badly she would have enjoyed having their lips touch.

'Bet they taste like cinnamon an'sugar right now too..' Fae thought, eyes zeroing in on Elly's lips for a moment and resisting the urge to both lick her lips and to lean in. In truth, she would love that kiss as well. But it wouldn't be right. Fae had known that from the start. She had known that since Elly was asleep in the errant moments where she thought about gently pressing a sweet little peck against the gnome's lips to let her know she was there. 'Momma'd twack me wit'th back a'th Anatomy a' Flesh an' Spirit.

So instead, she laughed. It wasn't at teasing laugh. Or judgemental in any way. Fae laughed because the situation was just funny, and sweet, and it made her genuinely smile enough that she could actually feel it in her cheeks and ears. She wiped a tear from her eye as she shook her head, "Lil'bird you really gotta way wit'charmin' a girl." she said, teasing just a little. She lifted the plate between them and moved it to her opposite side so that Fae could slide closer without having to worry that the left over cakes and assorted toppings would get between them. Instead of a kiss, she slid her hand down Elly's shoulder, along her arm to her hand and rested her own palm delicately against Elly's knuckle, "You ain't no fool though. Stubborn, sure. But jus'ya wait till next time I'm lyin' up in bed. I been told I can be a pretty bad patient.."

Her hand gently stroked Elly's hand, "Sides. If you'd let me do this earlier, we wouldn't be here now. An' I like now. Jus'like I liked hearin' y'talkin' in yer sleep an'learnin' how much y'like oatcakes.."

Elly could tell she had done it again, the thing she always did. Not knowing what to say and what not to say, she ended up saying everything and too much, only realizing in retrospect that there had been a point where she could have simply stopped and had a salutary, if not sultry, effect. It was how she had managed to go the five years she had spent in Waterdeep—and the rest of her life—for that matter, without managing to hold anyone's interest long enough to win a kiss, let alone a proper feel up or a roll in the hay. Probably it was for the best that she had spoiled any immediate chances of such here, given the reasons she had just been babbling on about.

Fae, of course, responded by teasing her, which was better than awkwardly excusing herself from the room, at least, even if it did have her burying her face in her hands yet again. She was still acutely aware of Fae's movements however, especially when she slid close to Elly and caressed her arm. Elly's heart beat faster, the blood rushing in her ears making it a little hard to focus on what Fae was saying. She leaned in closer to Fae.

Fae obviously wanted her to feel better about the whole thing, so Elly gamely tried to. "Are you going to start spying on me in my sleep to learn more of my secrets?" she asked. "Because I don't think I would mind that. It's already gotten me oatcakes." She thought about Fae being a stubborn patient in her own way. She felt like Fae had rather missed her point—Elly's stubbornness was not limited to being ill—but again, she wanted to show willing. "Do you have a meal that makes you feel better when you're sick?"

It wasn't what she wanted to do, but it was enough. Closing the distance, Fae tugged Elly until the smaller girl leaned against her, her fingers gently stroking along Elly's arm. She was warm, but not as feverish anymore, though Fae could tell she still wasn't feeling her best. Elly was just better enough to be playful with, not well enough to be intimate. Fae was just thankful that their height differences - as small as they were comparatively speaking - was enough that Elly might not see how Fae's own cheeks warmed as she got closer.

She giggled a bit against Elly and purred, "Maybe I will. Yer pretty when y'sleep, might need'a make a habit a'draggin' you t'bed."

She bit her lip as she said it and smiled. Elly's head was so close to her chest, ear so close to her heart she worried the gnome might hear it beat a bit faster at the innocent jest turned something a little..less..innocent in her mind.

With a thoughtful hum, she tried to deflect to the simpler question. Fae found herself pondering when the last time she was sick actually was. Not hung over, but actually sick. "Momma had this funny concoction she'd make me an' daddy drink when we was sick. All green an'had a bite t'it I think now was probably wil'ginger. Was good though. In'na 'i'mma make you healthy if y'like it 'er not' kinda way." Her finger had taken to just idly caressing Elly as she spoke and mused, "But really..gawds if I don't love jus'somethin' sweet an'warm. Honey tea an'fresh baked bread wit'some butter.."

She gently moaned as she thought about it, the sound vibrating in her chest.

The warmth of Fae's body was comforting, the steady beat of her heart soothing. Elly rested her ear against Fae's ribcage, listening to the resonance of her voice. She kept her eyes closed, in part out of fatigue, but also to keep from being preoccupied by Fae's chest so close at hand.
She giggled a bit against Elly and purred, "Maybe I will. Yer pretty when y'sleep, might need'a make a habit a'draggin' you t'bed."
In the version of this scenario in Elly's head, she's already asleep, prompting her to frown at the imagined logistical hurdles. "I'm normally a light sleeper," she pointed out. "I'm not sure how you're going to get me into your bed without—" Then her brain caught up with the teasing innuendo and her tongue stopped up for a moment as her ears burned. "Oh. I guess that might resolve the light sleeping issue. Nevermind."

Fae's moan fizzed in Elly's ear and bubbled all the way down to her hips. "It's the simple things," Elly agreed, trying to tamp down the simple need pressing against the back of her brain. "I should learn how to bake bread so I can repay the favor someday. And learn how much honey you like in your tea." Both of those would be easier than trying to reverse-engineer Fae's mother's homemade concoction from vague childhood memories.
